TO SUPPORT AN INDIVIDUAL FROM WHERE THEY ARE NOW TO WHERE THEY WISH TO BE
ICF (International Coach Federation – www.coachfederation.org) defines coaching, as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential, which is particularly important in today's uncertain and complex environment. Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work, and believe every client is creative, resourceful and whole. Standing on this foundation, the coach's responsibility is to:
- Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve.
- Encourage client self-discovery.
- Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies.
- Hold the client responsible and accountable.
This process helps client dramatically improve their outlook on work and life, while improving their leadership skills and unlocking their potential.
BUSINESS COACHING-EXECUTIVE COACHING
Executive coaching is the classical form of coaching. One to one sessions with an executive mostly on business related topics such as: leadership, decision-making, communication, motivation, strategy making or any personal skill development.
Team coaching is a very effective way to support a small team in order to clarify their goals, sort out their tasks, and to schedule their actions in a very short time. At the beginning of a project or as preparation for any change, team coaching is a good intervention.
It is likely that an executive or a professional practitioner, is only hindered of success, by lacking one particular skill; like speaking clear or understandable, writing a report on time or presenting results. In this case, skill coaching is the right answer by only focusing on the certain area where skills are lacking.
